“You’re only twenty something! You’ll figure it out”. “You have so much time, you’re sooo young!” …. “Wait, you don’t have savings? But you’re in your twenties…”
We have heard it all countless times. The definitive assurance always being, you have so much time to figure things out, whilst trying to get your 10k steps in, cancel the direct debit you forgot from however long ago and leaving you with cents. But why does being in your 20s feel like a game of russian roulette?
For a lot of twenty somethings you’re either graduating, anticipating a job that’ll let you still have a life or trying to break free from the pressures of society and go live in Bali feeding monkeys. Can we all just take a breath?! Cue 20 something by SZA.
Honestly it’s hard enough living on the same planet with world leaders who want to see whose gun is bigger. Also, recession ??!

We are in an age where everything is so fast paced like Rihanna being pregnant again, just fast as hell. But when did becoming a millionaire by the age of twenty-five become the universal law? By all means reach for the stars, but that kind of pressure being forced upon us by the rule of social media just isn’t healthy. Wanting to take your time, deciding what you like by yourself and living carelessly carefully is more than okay. Happiness and success is limited to no age.

I get it, we all want that passionate, richly comfortable lifestyle that we imagined as the younger versions of ourselves. But what fun is getting what you deserve and working hard for without a little bit of tussle. It makes it all worth it in the end. Oh, you thought that person you matched on Hinge was the love of your life ? They weren’t! But you’re still young and single like girl you should be in the club ! Start something, it doesn’t work out ? Try again and again. You don’t want that anymore ? Try something new. This is what your twenties are for, trial and error. You’re discovering new things about yourself, for example your frontal lobe. Please listen to your frontal lobe, she’s trying to save you. You don’t like things that you did before or now that you’re older, you appreciate things that your younger self loved.

“Your twenties are your selfish years. It’s a decade to immerse yourself in every single thing possible. Be selfish with your time, and all aspects of you. Tinker with shit, travel, explore, love a lot, love a little and never touch the ground” - Kyoko Escamilla.
All in all, we’re all in the same boat. Even though some may look like they have it all figured out, they just might have finished their 4th crash of the day. But honestly, I understand. Remember; comparison is the thief of joy. Trust God and yourself. This is your first time living and you’re doing amazing.
